Gusty winds, thunderstorms this evening

Showers and a few thunderstorms are expected this evening as a cold front moves quickly east across the region.

It will be windy with gusts higher than 40 mph possible, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

The Butler County Regional Airport-Hogan Field recorded 48 mph wind gusts at 8:15 p.m. during a thunderstorm.

Winds gradually decrease overnight. The highest gusts are expected to affect areas east of Interstate 75 through 11 p.m., the NWS said.

Overnight lows are expected to drop to the mid-40s.

Skies on Tuesday will be sunny and clear, with temperatures ranging from a high of 72 degrees to a lows of 44 degrees. There also is a chance of a light breeze,

Wednesday also will be sunny, though clouds are likely in the evening. Temperatures will range from 75 degrees to 55 degrees.
