Dayton gunshot victim says he’s hit twice in the neck, caller tells 9-1-1 operator

A man was taken to Miami Valley Hospital with reported gunshot wounds to the neck or head after he was seen around 3:55 p.m. Monday by a person on Highview Hills Road in Dayton.

A caller told an emergency operator/dispatcher he came upon a male who said he had been shot, according to a 9-1-1 audio recording News Center 7 requested tonight.

“He was walking down the street and said he had been shot,” the caller told the Montgomery County emergency operator-dispatcher.

“He was wearing a black hoodie and said he had been shot in the head, in the neck, twice,” the caller said.

The caller said he encountered the gunshot victim near Harvest Grove Baptist Church, in the 3300 block of Highview Hills Road and Stolz Avenue.

“He stopped. He’s sitting here,” the caller said.

Police found the man behind a house on Highview Hills Road that appears to be abandoned. An evidence crew investigated a possible scene behind the house, where a shell casing and blood were found, according to Dayton Police Sgt. Jonathan Sopczak.

As of last night police have not released any information on the man’s condition, and Sopczak said that the victim was not cooperating with police.
