A 36-year-old Dayton man was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court to 60 months in prison for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
Dayton police found Daryl Ian Evans in possession of four firearms in January 2018 while they were executing a search warrant on Eleanor Street in Dayton. Police also found heroin, cocaine, marijuana and $10,000 in cash at the home, according to court documents.
Evans had been previously convicted in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court for attempted possession of cocaine and domestic violence, according to a news release from Benjamin C. Glassman, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio.
The case against Evans was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a Department of Justice program to reduce violent crime, the release stated.
