Dayton woman pleads guilty in OVI crash with unbuckled baby in car

A 30-year-old Dayton woman accused of driving intoxicated while three children, including a 14-month-old boy who wasn’t buckled in, were in the car pleaded guilty to charges.

Diamond L. Cross pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular assault, operating a vehicle while under the influence and child endangering, according to a Montgomery County court official.

A second child endangering charge and a failure of an operator of a motor vehicle to secure a child in a child restraint system charge were dropped.

Cross is scheduled to be sentenced July 22 at 1:30 p.m.

On March 25, 2018, Cross was driving reportedly driving on Germantown Street when she attempted to make a left turn.

She lost control of the car and drove over a curb, hitting an RTA pole, according to a Dayton traffic report.

An 11-year-old girl was riding in the front passenger seat with the 14-month old boy in the front middle seat.

A 3-month-old baby was also in the back passenger seat

All three children were transported to Dayton Children’s Hospital.
