At least one person was shot after gunfire erupted Monday afternoon in the parking lot of a funeral home as mourners were headed to a local cemetery.

People inside a black Mercedes were shooting at a black Chrysler 300, which had bullet holes in it, the funeral director for the Donald Jordan Memorial Chapel in the 4800 block of Germantown Pike told a 911 operator.

He said people were running everywhere in the parking lot.

A woman who said the funeral service was for her grandson also was among 911 callers Monday afternoon.

“There was a shooting in the parking lot as we were going to the cemetery. I don’t know who got shot but they said somebody got shot at the funeral home,” she told a 911 operator. “I’ve got to put my grandson in the cemetery. I’m trying to bury my baby …”

She said her grandson had been a gunshot victim. We are working on finding out more details to update this story.
