Police say an Illinois man working at a convenience store tampered with food by putting bleach in a bottle of barbecue sauce.

The barbecue sauce was for use in the store's sloppy joe sandwiches, according to SaukValley.com, but it appears the tampering was detected by another employee before tainted food could be sold to customers.

According to court documents, Gross poured bleach into barbecue sauce intended for sloppy joe sandwiches on Dec. 12.
