An arrest warrant was issued Monday for a 20-year-old man accused of ramming a Dayton police cruiser during a wrong-way crash on the West Monument Avenue bridge.

Kenneth A. Stewart, of Jefferson Twp., was driving a white 2000 Buick Park Avenue the wrong way around 2:50 a.m. Sept. 29, 2019, just before the Interstate 75 South overpass when he switched from the right to left lane, striking a 2015 Ford Explorer cruiser head-on, according to a traffic crash report.

Five people were injured, including Dayton police officers Jeremy Campbell and Robert Williamson; and three teen boys riding in Stewart’s car — two 17-year-olds and a 16-year-old, according to the crash report.

The crash happened when Stewart was apparently trying to elude police, according to a Montgomery County grand jury indictment.

Stewart is charged with five counts of vehicular assault and one count of failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer.

His arraignment is scheduled for April 21 in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.
