Vehicle crashes into Dayton building, breaks pole, then flees

Police are investigating after a car ran into the side of the Dayton Forging and Heat Treating Company building at 215 North Findlay Street at around 2:42 a.m., leaving a long gouge in the brickwork, a broken telephone pole, part of a bumper and shattered glass.

Officers on scene told our first responder that it appeared the vehicle tried to fit between the wall and a pole. After striking the wall and the pole, the vehicle fled.

The telephone pole belongs to AT&T, according to police.

The incident remains under investigation.
