3 Dayton-area restaurants hit with fake money

Funny money was rampant across Dayton and Kettering Wednesday as three separate restaurants had customers pay with counterfeit bills for their food, police say.

The bills, a total of $240 from all three incidents, were all marked "For Motion Picture Only," and were collected by Dayton police.

At approximately 7:40 p.m. Wednesday, police were dispatched to a McDonald's in the 1500 block of North Keowee Street.

Upon arrival, the restaurant manager explained a male attempted to pay for his food using a fake $100 bill. The staff immediately noticed the bill was fake and stalled in order to contact the police.

The officer made contact with the suspect and he denied using the counterfeit bill, according to police. The suspect also stated he purchased the bill from another male for $10. Both men have been banned from the McDonald's.

Later that evening, an officer was dispatched at approximately 9:19 p.m. to a Pizza Hut in the 4300 block of West Third Street.

A delivery driver told the officer that a female had used two counterfeit bills to pay for her pizza in the 3100 block of Lakeview Avenue.

The driver left the store around 9 p.m. and when he arrived at the house, the female was already waiting outside for him, according to police. After handing her the pizza, she gave the driver two fake $20 bills and told him to keep the change.

She did not enter the house and fled in between two houses. The driver noticed the bills were counterfeit and notified his manager.

The suspect is described as in her mid-20s, standing 5 feet 6 inches, with a heavy build and last seen wearing a purple sweater with gray sweatpants and a gray scarf, according to police.
