Driver who hit boy, 10, in Greenville is charged

UPDATE @ 2:00 p.m. July 23: Jacob Fultz is out of surgery and in recovery, according to his grandmother, Lisa Dilbeck. She called the newsroom to report her grandson also had a head injury which caused his brain to bleeding. Dilbeck explained the bleeding stopped and then he had surgery on his leg, where he suffered a deep laceration on his inner thigh.

“He had a laceration on his inner thigh, over 100 stiches. They stopped counting after 100,” she explained, “and he’s black and blue all over. He doesn’t remember anything about the crash.”

Dilbeck said Fultz is now doing well, and though he’ll be “out” for the rest of the summer, she said his doctors told her that his head wounds will heal in three to four months. The boy received a big fracture and abrasions on the right and back of his head.

Fultz will celebrate his birthday in two weeks, his grandmother said, and he’ll be a fifth grader in Greenville this fall.

Fultz will likely undergo physical therapy, Dilbeck said, for his leg.
