Wright-Patterson Air Force Base employees went into emergency response mode during the base’s week-long, quarterly exercises April 30 through May 4.

Exercise events started early on Monday with various disaster response scenarios, which included a variety of activities, ranging from rescue to mass casualty response to accountability.

Throughout the week, some organizations tested their continuity of operations plans while others put their members through their proper response procedures with an automatic external defibrillator, or AED. AED exercises help determine the level of familiarization that workers have with the devices and their locations within their facilities. That familiarization could potentially be lifesaving.

The next base-wide exercise is scheduled for July 30 to Aug. 3.
