For Dr. Stephen Levitt, this year’s Feast of Giving was especially important.

“Dayton’s been through a lot this year,” he said.

Levitt chairs the Feast of Giving event, a community gathering at the Dayton Convention Center where volunteers expected to feed as many as 12,000 people.

“It’s like eating Thanksgiving dinner in your own living room,” said Levitt.

Levitt said a special invitation was given to tornado survivors, with those who may be spending the holiday alone, homeless, or affected by tragedy especially encouraged to attend.

“My heart swells being a part of a warm, welcoming environment,” he said. “We have a total outpouring from the community.”
