Fire Closes Spring Valley Academy Wednesday

Students at Spring Valley Academy in Washington Township will miss school again Wednesday, following a fire at the school Monday evening.

Principal Jeff Bovee said, “The scary thing for us is long term. Where do we go from here? How soon can we get the school up and running again?”

Several students were inside the building at play practice when the fire broke out. They all escaped unharmed.

The school was closed Tuesday and may remain closed for several days.

Bovee said that family members of the students should keep in contact with the school for the latest updates and you can check any school closings here on whiotv.com.

Investigators said they believed the fire started in a utility room, but they are still investigating how the fire got started.

Spring Valley Academy opened in 1968 and currently has 293 students in grades K-12.
