Former Shelby Co. Man Killed In Michigan Snowmobile Accident

Michigan State Police released information on a fatal snowmobile crash in the Upper Peninsula over the weekend.

Killed was 25-year-old Daniel Barhorst of Cincinnati, formerly of Sidney.

His wife, Megan (Jay) Barhorst, 25, formerly of Piqua, remains hospitalized at Petoskey Hospital in Michigan.

According to state police, Daniel Barhorst was traveling on his snowmobile Friday on County Road 421 in Columbus Township, three hours north of Petoskey, when he failed to make a curve and left the trail, ejecting both Daniel and his wife.

Barhorst had served two tours of duty with Operation Iraqi Freedom with the Ohio National Guard out of St. Marys, Ohio.
