Guitarist with no arms appearing in Miami Valley

Tony Melendez, a singer-songwriter who was born with no arms and plays the guitar with his feet, is in the Dayton area.

Along with his Toe Jam Band, he is scheduled to give a two-hour concert for the general public at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24, at St. Peter Catholic Church, 6161 Chambersburg Road, Huber Heights. Donations will be accepted.

He is also set to perform at 8 a.m. Monday for students at Carroll High School, 4524 Linden Ave.

Also an inspirational speaker, Melendez gave a presentation Sunday during the Archdiocese of Cincinnati’s “Cast Your Nets” youth rally at St. Luke Parish, 1440 N. Fairfield Road, Beavercreek.

Born in Nicaragua, Melendez, 49, was inspired to launch his music ministry after performing for Pope John Paul in 1987. He has recorded several albums. He now lives in Branson, Mo.
