Union Elementary School in West Chester Twp. was locked down this morning after a reported break-in at nearby Refreshing Springs Church.

Police received a call just before 8 a.m. for a possible breaking and entering at 7719 LeSourdesville-West Chester Road, according to township spokeswoman Barb Wilson. It was reported that two males were looking in windows and appeared to make entry through a window at the church.

“At least one of the suspects was seen fleeing on foot. We had two Mason canines and one of ours tracking in the area and in the building,” she said. “Union Elementary was put on lockdown as a precaution, but that has been lifted. The suspect actually fled south away from the school.”

Wilson said police are taking a report at the church now to see if anything was taken. She described the suspects as two white males in their 30’s, medium build, perhaps 5’10” to 5’11”. One was wearing a gray sweatshirt, the other had on a dark shirt. They were wearing hats.

She said anyone with information should call 513-777-2231.
