Springboro Schools have canceled all academic field trips until further notice as part of the district’s response to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

There are no plans to close school, and spring athletic practices and games will go on as scheduled; however, the district is working with the Ohio High School Athletic Association as the situation develops.

The district announced Wednesday that it created a COVID-19 Resources webpage, which will be updated with recommendations from medical experts of the state of Ohio, the Ohio Department of Health, Warren County Health District and the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, according to a release.

Following are other updates from the district:

  • Friday, March 13 is a previously scheduled teacher In-service day, which means no school. This will continue and is not as a result of the coronavirus.
  • Wednesday, March 18, is a previously scheduled early release day for a teacher in-service, which will continue as scheduled.
  • The district has set up a cleaning schedule for each school building, which allows maintenance staff to thoroughly disinfect each classroom in all six school buildings, using electrostatic sprayers at least once a week.
  • In addition, the district has begun to disinfect all school buses once a week, with disinfectant that has a seven-day life cycle.
  • The district also has a six- to eight-month supply of disinfectant.

The best way to prevent the spread of any respiratory illness is to follow general hygiene practices:

  • Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands
  • Cover coughs and sneezes with your arm or a tissue
  • Stay home when sick and avoid close contact with others
