WWII Jacket, Nose Art

Col. Cassie Barlow, 88th Air Base Wing commander at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, said Friday that artwork on historic WWII-era aircraft and bomber jackets in the collection at the National Museum of the United States Air Force would remain despite an Air Force order for the removal of obscene, inappropriate or insensitive images from installations. "I think the tradition and history at the Air Force museum is just that," Barlow said in a press conference with reporters Friday. "That's our history. We're not going to go back and change those things because that's part of our history and that's an important part of our organization. I think the museum will keep the displays that they have just as they are." CHRIS STEWART / STAFF
