Here's how Lily's Bistro at 329 E.  Fifth St. in Dayton's Oregon Historic District described its offer of a free bowl of soup today only on its Facebook page and Instagram account yesterday afternoon:

This is a post about FREE SOUP for brave souls. ... Wednesday, January 30 is gonna be a real cold one. We love y'all and our staff loves to have people to take care of, so for one day only, we'll be offering a cup of complimentary soup with the purchase of any lunch or dinner meal. Just mention this post and we'll bring it out on the house to reward your fortitude.

The Lily’s Bistro Facebook post had generated nearly 200 likes (and loves) by 6 a.m. this morning.

And at mid-morning, Blind Bob's Bar across the street from Lily's made a similar offer of free soup with a meal, today only.
