Accused local hotel shooter appears in court

Michael Mclendon, the man accused of fatally shooting a clerk at the Fairborn Hampton Inn, pleaded not guilty at his court arraignment on Friday.

McLendon is accused of several felony charges in the death of clerk Andrew Day, 29. Prosecutors have said McLendon has admitted to the shooting.

McLendon additionally is charged with aggravated robbery, felonious assault, firearm specifications, repeat violent offender specifications and aggravating circumstances that make the defendant eligible for the death penalty.

NewsCenter 7’s John Bedell talked to Andrew Day’s brother, Daniel Day, who says Andy was such a a great dad and brother.

Daniel Day goes on to say, “He (Andy) didn’t do anything wrong at all. He didn’t even put up a fight apparently from what we’ve heard. He was doing exactly what he was told to do because he thought he’d be able to make it home that night, But he didn’t.”
