Maria Romero, 38, of Phoenix, Arizona and Marcos Ignacio, 21, of Sinaloa, Mexico have been charged with possession of drugs with an intent to distribute, investigators said in a media release Wednesday.

During the investigation, authorities seized over five pounds of fentanyl, and over two pounds each of black tar heroin and cocaine. A stolen handgun was also recovered during the investigation.

Romero is listed as an inmate in the Montgomery County Jail and was arrested on I-70 near Brookville Tuesday morning, online jail records indicate.

The location of Ignacio’s arrest was not released, but he is being held in a local jail, according to a sheriff’s office spokesperson.

The announcement of the two arrests comes a day after federal and local agencies were involved in a drug investigation in Dayton in the area of Kings Highway and England Avenue. However, officials said this investigation was not connected to law enforcement activity in that area Tuesday.

This news outlet is working to learn more details about the investigations and we’ll update this page as they become available.
