WEST CHESTER TWP. — Community members with a healthy sense of helping the community and equally large appetites are invited to enjoy a “home cooked” meal from a professional chef at a location that’s the next best thing to being in your own dining room and without the cleanup hassles that follow.

The Community Foundation of West Chester and Liberty’s 18th annual Key Event is Sept. 17.

“This is a very popular and fun event that is the key fundraiser for the Community Foundation of West Chester and Liberty,” said foundation spokeswoman Melissa Benedict.

The event starts at the Marriott Union Center with an opening reception. At the reception, each couple draws a key that will reveal a random dining destination in one of 30 hosts homes in the area.

Each home will host between 16 and 30 guests and feature a local chef from a restaurant in the Greater Cincinnati area who will prepare a meal for the guests.

Chefs include Jags’ Michelle Brown; Linda and Jim Pitrelli of Pitrelli’s Italian restaurant; deSha’s Paul Deggenbach; and 27 others.

The foundation just recently announced that U.S. House Speaker John Boehner, R-West Chester Twp., will cook dinner, with is wife, Debbie serving as a sous-chef for the event.

Each chef is given the same ingredients to use for the meal but each uses their own training and talents to create unique combinations of meals, Benedict said.

In past years, the event has drawn more than 500 people and raised more than $100,000 annually for nonprofit organizations in West Chester and Liberty townships. The event is sponsored by Aveda Frederic’s Institute, Clark-Theders Insurance Agency and North Ridge Realty Group.

The event also features an after-party for guests at the home of Dick and Patti Alderson, the CEO of the foundation. A silent and live auction also will take place during the reception.

Tickets for the events are $100 per person, $200 per couple or $250 to dine with a specific couple
