It is also seeking candidates for its Derek Ali Memorial Fund Scholarship for students pursuing careers in journalism and related fields.
The boot camp will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 20 at the University of Dayton’s John F. Kennedy Memorial Union on campus, 300 College Park. Though the workshop targets blacks, Asians, Hispanics and other minorities traditionally underrepresented in newsrooms, it is open to all. GDABJ is committed to diversity and accepts students regardless of race or economic status.
This free, hands-on boot camp is designed for sophomores, juniors and seniors who attend Dayton and Springfield area public, private and parochial schools. Using intensively interactive exercises, the camp turns area students into journalists for a day.
