Boy, 11, recovering following dog bite to face near Waynesville

An 11-year-old boy is recovering after a dog bit him in the face in the backyard of a home on Corwin Road Thursday night near Waynesville.

Deputies responded to the home in the 5200 block after the boy was attacked by the dog while a group of children were playing in the yard around 8 p.m., according to sheriff’s deputies.

The boy’s lip was partially severed and he also had several other lacerations to his face, deputies said.

The injuries are not considered life threatening.

Deputies ordered the dog be quarantined, however no criminal charges have been filed.
