Man seriously injured after SUV hits him in Harrison Twp.

A 36-year-old man was seriously injured after being hit by a car Tuesday night, according to a release from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

North Main Street was shut down for more than two hours as deputies investigated the crash reported shortly before 8 p.m near the Waverly Avenue intersection in Harrison Twp.

According to the release, deputies arrived on the scene and found the victim lying in the roadway. He was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The victim’s condition was not known.

After investigation, deputies found that the man was hit in the northbound lanes by a 2018 Ford Escape. The SUV was driven by a 43-year-old man who parked the vehicle and tried to walk away from the scene, the release said.

Deputies later found it and detained the suspected driver, but it is unclear whether an arrest was made.

This crash remains under investigation, the sheriff’s office said, and anyone with information is encouraged to call the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
