Women thrown from car in Darke County rollover crash

UPDATE @ 7:34 a.m.

Two women were thrown from a car in a Saturday morning crash in Darke County, according to a Darke County Sheriff's Office release.

Deputies said they originally responded to the 1600 block of Mills Road for a woman who was knocking on a door intoxicated and stating she was in need of a ride.

Shortly after responding to the call, deputies said they located an injury crash the woman had been involved in.

A preliminary investigation reveals the two women were travelling westbound on Mills Road in a 2004 Chevy Cavalier when the driver failed to negotiate a curve and drove off the right side of the road hitting a guardrail.

Deputies said the car then flipped over the guardrail and came to rest in a field, ejecting both women.

One of the women was flown to Miami Valley Hospital in a medical helicopter with serious injuries.

The other victim was taken to Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana with unknown injuries.

Deputies have yet to release the name of either victim and said both alcohol and speed are considered factors in the crash.
