A chill in the air made the top costume at Hauntfest on 5th likely the warmest.

Thousands of people, some scary, others cute, crowded the Oregon District for the 32nd Halloween celebration, despite the bitter cold.

Out of hundreds of volunteers and bunches of workers at Hauntfest, Demetrius Conley may have had the best job of all. He was at a food stand that sells chicken and pork.

“We stay warm by the warmth of the grill and everything,” he said.

To stay warm some had hand warmers. Rob Ellerhorst wore extra layers, including “pairs of sweatpants, couple shirts, sweatshirt.”

Those inside insulated full-body costumes seemed to have no trouble with the lower temperatures.

Then there’s Sharon Gudee, whose costume wasn’t quite designed for Saturday night’s weather.

“No, I’m cold,” she said.
