The city of Springfield is looking for a new city manager and resumes and applications are being accepted.

Officials released a recruitment brochure Friday, following the announcement of City Manager Jim Bodenmiller’s plan to retire Jan. 31, 2019.

“Springfield has seen more than $400 million in downtown investment since 2010, along with significant job growth, and we want to continue this momentum. The next city manager will take over a time when a lot of really good things are happening in our community, but there also some challenges to address,” Mayor Warren Copeland said.

“Some of those challenges include housing solutions, continuing our street paving program, and advancing quality of life issues among our many neighborhoods,” he said.

Candidates must have a bachelor’s in political science, business management or related field.

A master’s in public administration is preferred, along with eight to 10 years significant management experience, at least three of which should be as a city manager, assistant city manager or the equivalent in government management experience.

Candidates must apply by Sept. 28.

The position announcement and recruitment brochure are available at www.springfieldohio.gov.
