One of the locations where union members have been spotted picketing is at Baker Concrete Construction of Monroe. Baker is part of a group of employers that have been in a collective bargaining agreement with members of Laborers’ Local 534 for several years, said Todd Wilkowski, Baker spokesman.
Local 534 Business Manager Ray Hipsher declined comment.
A three-year contract between the group of employers and the union was extended to June 10 and expired, Wilkowski said. He said the biggest issue is wages. “We’re hopeful of being able to reach an agreement, but haven’t been able to do so yet,” he said.
