Coronavirus: Death in Toledo being investigated as state’s first COVID-19 death

The death of a man in Toledo is being investigated as the state’s first death related to COVID-19, said Ohio Department of Health Director Dr. Amy Acton.

In a Facebook post, the family of Mark Wagoner, Sr. said he was diagnosed with presumptive positive COVID-19, but was awaiting test results. He died Wednesday, according to the post.

In Ohio, 119 people have tested positive, according to the Ohio Department of Health. Of those, one case has been confirmed in each of Montgomery, Clark, Miami and Darke counties.

Of the first 2,5000 documented cases of coronavirus in the U.S., 508 people were hospitalized. Of the 508 hospitalized, 38 percent were between the ages of 20 and 54. 121 of patients admitted to intensive care units were adults under 65.
