Coronavirus: 22 deaths in Miami County, 10 in Darke County

The death of a Miami County woman 80 or older associated with the coronavirus pandemic was reported Thursday, bringing the total to 22.

Miami County Public Health officials on Thursday said 18 deaths were linked to the outbreak at two nursing homes, Koester Pavilion in Troy and SpringMeade Health Center in Tipp City, and the other four were due to community spread.

There are 127 COVID-19 cases (75 female and 52 male) with 47 hospitalizations.

The 22 deaths involve 11 men and 11 women; 15 were 80 or older; three between 70 and 79; three between 60 and 69; and one between 50 and 59, according to Ohio Department of Health data.

Darke County, which also has a cluster of cases associated with a nursing facility, Greenville Health and Rehabilitation Center, has reported 10 deaths due to the coronavirus, involving three women and seven men, with seven 80 or older and three between 70 and 79, ODH data shows.

The Darke County General Health District on Thursday reported 55 cases with nine hospitalizations.
