“Throughout history, Greater Dayton has faced its share of difficult and challenging times, but the last 12 months have been unlike anything we could have imagined,” said James R. Pancoast, chair of The Dayton Foundation’s governing board. “Each time our community has joined together to rise above these trying times. While there is more work to be done, I cannot thank enough all who have given so far. We truly are a giving and generous community.”

The response fund is one of three emergency funds created by The Dayton Foundation in the last year. Other funds were started following the 2019 Memorial Day tornadoes and the Oregon District mass shooting. In the last year, thousands have come together to donate a combined $7.3 million to the three funds.

Parks, CFRE, president of The Dayton Foundation. “We are so pleased to be of service to charitable individuals, families and organizations, and our experienced staff will continue to do everything we can to help individuals and families during this time of need and all year long.

“Last fiscal year we facilitated the distribution of $51.8 million dollars to charity. Just this week alone, grants totaling more than $3 million are being distributed from Foundation funds at the request of our donors. This is a remarkable expression of hope and charity.”
