Coronavirus: Shelby County records second, third confirmed COVID-19 cases

UPDATE @ 7:11 p.m. (March 27): The Sidney-Shelby County Health Department on Friday reported the second and third county patients to test positive for the coronavirus.

The second patient is a male in his 30s; the third patient is a female in her 70s, health department officials announced via social media.

INITIAL REPORT (March 25)

The Sidney-Shelby County Health Department on Wednesday night reported the first confirmed COVID-19 case in Shelby County.

The health department will not be releasing any demographic information relating to any cases to protect the privacy of the individual during this time of illness, according to a statement the department released.

The department is working with the Ohio Department of Health to conduct contact tracing to determine if any of the patient’s close contacts are sick.

Those contacts who are sick will be isolated at home and remain in touch with their doctor.
