Vacant house damaged by ‘suspicious’ fire in Springfield

UPDATE @11:53 a.m.

A vacant house in Springfield caught fire Tuesday morning, and the fire is considered suspicious, according to officials.

About six weeks ago, an unattached garage caught fire at the same address in the 2000 block of Lagonda Avenue. That fire also was considered suspicious.

No one was injured.

FIRST REPORT

Firefighters are reporting heavy smoke and flames coming from a structure on Lagonda Avenue in Springfield Tuesday morning.

Crews were dispatched around 10:55 a.m. to reports of a fully engulfed structure fire in the 2000 block of Lagonda Avenue.

Initial reports indicate the building is believed to be vacant.

There have been no initial reports of injuries.
