Darke County hazmat team cleans nearly 100 gallons of diesel after semi accident

A semi-truck accident was reported Tuesday morning around 6:05 a.m. in the 12,000 block of Greenville St. Marys Road near Versailles.

A 2017 Freightliner semi tractor trailer, driven by Brian Shiverdecker, 41, of Lewisburg was traveling south on Greenville St. Marys Road when he failed to negotiate a curve, went off the right side of the road, struck a traffic sign and utility pole, and came to rest in a creek.

Shiverdecker was treated for minor injuries and released at the scene.

The semi contained 42,000 pounds of Honda engines from the Anna Engine Plant.

A nearly 100 gallons of diesel was leaking into the creek, which was contained by Darke County Hazmat Team.

Darke County deputies and Hazmat Team along with Ansonia Rescue, North Star Fire, Ohio State Highway Patrol Motor Carrier Enforcement all responded to the incident that remains under investigation.
