A man was arrested for OVI after crashing his pickup truck into a tree early Friday morning on Hartzell Road.

Deputies in Darke County are investigating an early-morning crash that left the driver of a pickup truck injured and charged with OVI.

According to officials, deputies were dispatched around 4:07am Friday, along with Gettysburg Fire and Rescue to the 6200 block of Hartzell Road when a truck slammed head-on into a tree.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a 1995 black GMC Sonoma driven by Daniel Huffman, 51 of Greenville, was traveling east on Hartzell Road when he went off the left side of the road, ran over several bushes and then struck a tree in the front yard of 6260 Hartzell Road.

Deputies arrested Huffman for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence. He was taken to Wayne Healthcare by Gettysburg Rescue, where he was treated for minor injuries and then transported to the Darke County Jail.

Huffman was cited for OVI and failure to control, according to the sheriff’s office.
