One person is in custody after a Dayton police chase involving a carjacking suspect, according to Montgomery County dispatch.

The male suspect, who was wearing a gray hoodie and black ski mask, hit the driver of a silver Honda Accord in the head with a gun before taking the car.

“Someone just stole my car,” the 911 caller told dispatchers. “Some dude ran up on my passenger side door, opened my passenger side door, told me to get out ... when he had the gun and told me to get out the car, I got out the car and he hit me in the back of the head with the gun.”

The victim was driving down an alley near Elsmere Avenue when the carjacking took place, Dayton Sgt. Creigee S. Coleman said. A short time later, an officer spotted the car near Danner Avenue and initiated a pursuit.

The pursuit ended when the suspect fled on foot after crashing the car at McCabe Avenue and Fleetfoot Street, Coleman said. Officers were able to find the suspected driver.

Two people were taken into custody, but it’s unknown if one person is involved until they’re interviewed by detectives.
