Dayton police investigating shell casings found at vehicle accident scene

Police are working to find out whether there is a connection between several shell casings found in the street in the 1800 block of West Riverview Avenue in Dayton and a two-vehicle accident that left both in the front yard of a residence.

Officers were dispatched to the West Riverview Avenue address about 4:25 p.m. on the report of a vehicle accident.

Several shell casings are in the street and on the sidewalk near the accident scene. There appear to be bullet holes in a vehicle belonging to a person who lives in an apartment building the 1800 block. There are what appear to be bullet holes in the building as well.

Police are now blocking eastbound West Riverview Avenue in the 1800 block for their investigation of the traffic accident and a shots-fired incident.
