1 dead in two-vehicle crash

One person has died following a two-vehicle crash in Turtlecreek Twp. Monday morning.

Rosemary Hoey, a 56-year-old Centerville woman, was driving a gray Honda Civic when her vehicle was sideswiped by a red Honda truck driven by Brian Lahman, 32, of Lebanon, at the intersection of Hart and Kirby roads. Hoey had failed to yield at a two-way stop sign on Kirby Road, according to Lt. Matt Hamilton of the Ohio Highway State Patrol. Hoey was headed east on Kirby Road, while Lahman was headed south on Hart Road. The truck hit the car with such impact that it spun the vehicles around so that the truck struck the car twice, Hamilton said. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Neither Lahman nor a juvenile passenger in the truck were injured, Hamilton said.

Hamilton said Hoey may have been unfamiliar with the area roads and was also possibly blinded by sunlight. He said police would return to the scene of the accident tomorrow to see if the sunlight could have possibly been a factor. Neither speed nor alcohol were believed to be factors, Hamilton said. The acident remains under investigation.

This is the first fatal accident at this intersection this year, Hamilton said.
