Donate leftover Halloween candy to the troops. Here’s how

There’s an easy way to get rid of extra Halloween candy that did not get passed out to trick-or-treaters, removing temptation and doing a good deed at the same time.

The national Halloween Candy Buy Back program since 2005 has helped children exchange candy for cash, and sends the candy to U.S. troops abroad.

In Springboro, dentist Jody Wright of Wright Smiles Dentistry bought back candy for $1 a pound. She will use the candy to put into stockings that will be sent to troops overseas for the holidays.

Registration is open for other dental practices interested in participating, and a search feature can help you find a nearby buyback location, each by clicking here.
