Downed pole knocks out power to thousands

Dayton Power and Light has sent crews to restore power to more than 4200 customers knocked offline Saturday afternoon.

The Beavercreek Police Department said a downed pole on Dayton-Xenia Road caused the outages. DP&L’s website showed 4,235 customers in Greene County without power as of 3:15 p.m. At 3:40, the website showed 1,461 outages in Greene County without power.

As of 8:19 p.m., DP&L crews had restored power to all but 34 customers in their service area, according to the company’s website.

The Beavercreek Police Department said the traffic light at the intersection of Grange Hall and Kemp roads was flashing after power went out to the area.
