Estimated $20K stolen from bingo hall in Dayton

Two thieves broke into Eastown Bingo, 1232 Falke Dr., and stole a safe containing an estimated $20,000 and about $900 from a filing cabinet. Surveillance cameras captured the break-in, and police are in the process of reviewing the footage.

According to police, the bingo hall is a large warehouse-type building with sheet metal for outer walls.
The two thieves are thought to have gained entry by going behind the business and proceeding to break the screws that connect two overlapping pieces of sheet metal and pry them apart. The suspects continued to push through the insulation to get through the inside wall and into the building, according to a police report.
They made their way through at least two different offices before taking the safe — reportedly weighing between 50 and 75 pounds — out of the building with a dolly, police said.

One of the thieves is described as wearing a blue jacket with a hoodie, jeans and gloves. The second is wearing a brown Carhartt jacket, red and black checkered shirt and gloves.

No one at Eastown Bingo was immediately available to comment on Sunday.
