The U.S. Department of Agriculture on Friday issued a disaster declaration, U.S. Rep. Bob Latta, R-Bowling Green, announced in a release.

Primary counties in the disaster declaration are Paulding, Wood and Wyandot counties. Mercer County is a contiguous county, along with Defiance, Hancock, Hardin, Henry, Ottaway, Putnam and Van Wert counties, which are covered by the declaration.

Affected farmers now may be eligible for additional relief, including low interest loans, deferred loan payments and supplementary assistance. Farmers and producers can visit their local Farm Services Agency to learn more about the disaster programs offered.
