Clark said that the fire was reported by a passerby.
Crews inside the building reported multiple points of origin for the flames, making it definitely arson, Clark said. An investigator has been called to the scene.
Clark encouraged people to keep an eye on nearby vacant homes in their neighborhoods, and call the police if they see people inside. Fire investigators do a great job of catching people who set fires in the city, she added.

During the course of the fire, Clark said that she decided to send away some of the fire crews so that they could respond to other fire reports in the city. Whenever someone intentionally sets a fire or accidentally does so, she said, it draws crews away from more serious fires.
This incident remains under investigation.
