Multiple outages reported as gusting winds strike Miami Valley; crews working to restore power

Most of the power around Springfield appears to be restored, according to the DP&L and Ohio Edison outage maps.

A few hundred customers remain without power around the Miami Valley, but crews are working to restore power to the area.

INITIAL REPORT:

Gusts of wind are currently battering the Miami Valley, causing reports of trees down and power outages across the region.

As of 9:15 a.m., the Dayton Power & Light outage map lists 864 total customers without power, many clustered in the area around Eaton. However, dozens of small outages affecting only a few people litter the map. Even as some outages are fixed, more appear on the map.

In Clark County, Ohio Edison has reported one very large outage in Springfield, leaving 1,209 people without power. In addition, 142 people are facing outages in Moorefield Township and a small number are without power in Springfield Township.

Today’s weather forecast called for wind gusts as high was 30-35 mph in the area.

DP&L reported that most of the outages are due to gusty winds overnight.
