Hundreds lose power overnight across Miami Valley

Three larger outages were reported this morning in Montgomery, Preble and Butler counties, each affecting a few hundred customers.

In Montgomery County, 242 customers were reported without power around 3 a.m. The outage in Preble County affected over a hundred DP&L customers, and was reported around the same time.

The Preble County outage has since been resolved.

In Butler County, Duke Energy’s outage map is showing just over 600 people without power just northwest of Oxford.

We reached out to DP&L to ask about these outages, and a spokesperson said that crews were on the way to the outage in Montgomery County, but the cause was currently unknown.

He added that there weren’t any reports of car crashes into utility poles, so the outages may be weather-related.
