Jungle Jim’s expands wholesale service to area businesses

FAIRFIELD — Officials at Jungle Jim’s International Market say they saw a business opportunity when the stadiums were built in downtown Cincinnati and some wholesalers left.

About a year ago, Jungle Jim’s, 5440 Dixie Highway, centralized its wholesale market for businesses and restaurants, said department manager Doug Caminiti.

“There were a lot of wholesalers down in Cincinnati but when they put the stadiums in, a lot of them went out of business,” Caminiti said. “That’s why we decided to do this, because there’s room for another wholesaler.”

Jungle Jim’s has offered a wholesale service — which means businesses can purchase products by the case at a competitive, wholesale price — on a smaller scale to businesses and restaurants for a number of years, said spokesman Jimmy Bonaminio.

The 80,000-square-foot department is in the back of the store. It sells a full line of fruits and vegetables and dry goods, including ethnic foods from around the world.

The store is currently servicing restaurants, stores and schools across the Tri-state. The service is not open to the public, Bonaminio said.

The wholesale department is open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday and 6 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
