Suspect ID’d in Kettering pursuit case

UPDATE @ 3:58 p.m. (Feb. 28):

The man arrested following a Kettering pursuit that ended in Miami Twp. has been identified as James Price II, 24, a Kettering police report shows.

Price was booked into the Kettering Jail on suspicion of felonious assault, resisting arrest and DUI, according to records.

The report indicated that police found suspected marijuana in the vehicle Price was driving.

A Kettering police cruiser was struck during a pursuit that ended in Miami Twp. early Wednesday morning, leaving one person in police custody.

According to officials, the pursuit started as a traffic stop around 12:50 a.m. in the area of Dogwood Trail at Shrubb Drive in Kettering.

The suspect fled the traffic stop, with Kettering police initially terminating the pursuit, but after the individual ran a red light, the pursuit resumed, according to Lt. Lee Sanders of Kettering Police.

The pursuit lasted around 20 minutes with the suspect leading police through routes consisting of southbound Ohio 741, Innovation Drive, Austin Boulevard, and northbound I-75 before ending on Spring Valley Pike at North Springboro Pike in Miami Twp.

The suspect attempted to bail on foot, but was caught by Kettering and Miami Twp. officers soon after with the help of K-9.

The police cruiser was struck intentionally by the suspect vehicle, with initial reports describing it as a “light hit,” with little damage.

No one was injured during the pursuit and the police cruiser was able to remain in service.

Officials were not able to immediately confirm the speed of the suspect vehicle during the pursuit.
