Man charged with murder of 19-year-old Xenia man

XENIA — Police have apprehended a suspect they say was involved in the shooting death of a 19-year-old Xenia man earlier this morning.

Anthony Levi Randall, 21, of Xenia was arrested without incident at 12:15 p.m. today at the Meadow Apartments in connection with the shooting death of Cody Jackson.

Jackson, 19, of 1514 Ottawa Drive, died after he was shot in the head while sitting in a car in the parking lot of Meadow Apartments, 341 Stelton Road, about 2:50 a.m. today, according to Xenia Police Capt. Scott Anger.

Anger said Randall was charged with murder, felonious assault and trafficking in marijuana. He was the only suspect police said they were looking for in the case.

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office has completed its autopsy on Jackson but has not released any information.

Police said they believe Jackson was killed allegedly during a drug transaction dispute between him and Randall.

A preliminary investigation showed Randall allegedly shot at the vehicle, which was carrying Jackson, who was a passenger. The vehicle that Jackson was in then fled the scene, but crashed near the intersection of Cincinnati Avenue at Stelton Road. Police believe Jackson was sitting in the back seat of the vehicle when he was shot.

Jackson was originally taken to Greene Memorial Hospital but later flown by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital. He was pronounced dead at 6 a.m. today

Anger said there were four other people — who were both adults and juveniles — in the car. Police said Randall lived at the apartment complex.
