Man's death marks Darke County's 9th fatal crash

A man died after being critically injured in one of two rollover crashes Thursday night on North Star-Fort Loramie Road in Darke County.

Jerry C. Boes, 39, of Las Vegas, died Friday morning at Miami Valley Hospital after he was injured in the crash, at 8:14 p.m. Thursday, in the 4400 block of North Star-Fort Loramie Road, according to the Darke County Sheriff's Office.

Boes and three other passengers were riding in the bed of a 2004 Ford F-250 driven by Holly Burlile, 33, of Tiffin, police said.

The crash occurred when Burlile pulled out of the Eldora Speedway camping lot onto North Star-Fort Loramie Road, police said.

Boes and William Powers, 53, of Toledo, were thrown from the bed of the pickup when the vehicle struck a gravel incline, police said.

CareFlight responded with two helicopters and transported Boes and Powers to Miami Valley Hospital. Powers is listed in fair condition, officials said.

Ansonia Rescue, Rossburg Fire and Spirit Medical Transport responded to the scene, authorities said.

The crash marks the ninth fatal vehicle accident in Darke County this year, authorities said.

Deputies are still investigating this rollover along with another that happened three hours later.
